Mission Statement
At the Academy we strive to offer the best possible French tuition alongside top quality surf instruction. We aim to
create a positive learning environment in the classroom and on the water. We want to offer students a unique experience
that will help to empower them with the lifelong skills of French and surfing in a safe and beautiful setting.
Ethos
We believe in and promote the development of a sound mind in a sound body. We also believe in a spirit of fairness and
respect for the individual.
Camp Philosophy
Our philosophy is based on the assumption that all camp members come to have fun, improve their French and learn how to
surf or improve their surfing. It is our job to ensure that we create a safe environment to make that possible. We encourage
respect for each other, the language, the sea and the sport (surfing).
All students will vary in ability on the water and in the classroom. We want beginner surfers to enjoy learning with us
and intermediate/ advanced surfers to enjoy improving with us. The instructors are always delighted to see newcomers to the
sport. In the classroom respect must be shown to the teacher and classmates at all times. We have a strict no tolerance
policy in terms of bullying.
Company
The French & Surf Academy is a trade name of The Sport & Language Academy Ltd. The Academy was formed in 2008
by Company Director Alec Barrett. The Academy offers an educational, sporting and socially interactive learning experience.
Our company number is 458822.
Quality Control
The French & Surf Academy is the only internally managed French language and Surf school in the world. There are
websites and language companies who offer a French and Surf package but all aspects of their services are outsourced. We
are proud to control all aspects of our French tuition, surf instruction and camps in general. This enables us to employ
the best possible resources, both human and physical.
